You will find both on Strathearn. Of course a ground rim can also indicate a repair.

Sorry for the confusion folks! I had included a link to my previous thread, but I should have made myself clearer. 

The point I was making was that the first one of these I bought had,  on closer inspection, a champhered  outside edge at the top of the stem, which I assumed had been done to hide a tiny chip.  I have since bought two more of these vases and found that they all had the same finish.  I was curious to compare mine with others, so I would know if I had just been unlucky and bought three damaged ones, or whether they were all finished the same way.  I will add photos as soon as I can which hopefully will clarify this further.
Thanks Frank for your reply it is interesting to know that there were at least two different finishes.
