'unidentified glass' picture gallery
« on: August 28, 2008, 11:10:53 AM »
Not sure where this little note should go, so am trying here.....please move it if necessary.....

I was looking at the 'unidentified glass' gallery and saw two pieces that don't say if they have been resolved.

The first is File 267/1317  an unidentified signature on a glass butterfly engraved paperweight.  I am pretty certain it is Mats Jonasson.......but you may already know that.

The other is File 884/1317 a Swedish Duck.....? maker?? I think this is Granna Glass, I have a few pieces, and it has all the hallmarks of their quality, although I have to concede that without a label, there is no certainty. :-\

I have spent a wonderful morning looking through this gallery........thank you for making it available....I am still gobsmacked at the sheer variety of things you can do with a bit of sand!!
Rosie.

Hi Rosie, glad you enjoyed the Gallery pics. :)  Your numbers won't tell us which ones you are referring to as they reflect how you are sorting the pics, e.g. by date, by title, etc. so are dynamic references. To point directly to any image in GG you need to look *below* the image where you'll see a box titles File Information. In there is a line saying URL: with a link address ending in - followed by a number, e.g. -2345. That is the absolute fixed link to the image and will take you to it regardless of where in the GlassGallery that image is, even if it gets moved to another album. Neat huh?  :D

If you spot something in the GG you can identify for us, then right at the bottom of each item's page you'll see a Comments box - once signed into GG you can add the info to that box, which helps tremendously for when I check periodically and move things over to Resolved which have been identified.  8)

Hello Anne, I went back to look at the photos, they are in the Glass Queries gallery.

I couldn't find a comments box for the pictures I was looking at, but there was a URL, so here they are:-

1st.   http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-6283
This is, I think the Mats Jonasson signature.

2nd:-  http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-5195
This is th e duck that I think might be Granna Glass.

Sorry I couldn't do this directly into a comments box, but the view I had didn't seem to have one.

Mod: Hi Rosie, it's 'Jonasson'. Changed it for the records and googlers.

Hi Rosie, you don't see the comments box until you are logged into GG. That's to stop casual passers-by spamming us (as they tend to) with all their rubbishy adverts for services we don't want. ;)

Oh Anne, you are so patient with me.
I thought I was logged in 'forever'......as I never have to log in when I answer a message from my email inbox! I always have 'logout' displayed at the top left hand corner of the page, I'm confused!

Are we looking at two differnt pages Anne?

Promise not to spam you, but can't promise that some of my comments may not end up being rubbish......I am very new to glass......love it and have collected it for years, just as 'stuff wot I like', but with no knowledge.......I am on a steep learning curve with this, and computers......eeek!
I will try to do better.

Rosie.

Hi Rosie,

That butterfly weight was discussed here, and the same conclusion was drawn.

And the duck was discussed here. Ingela thought it looked like Granna as well.

All the best,
Cathy

Hi Rosie, the login for the GMB and the login for GG are separate. Registering for one won't log you in to the other as they are hosted in two totally separate places (one in the US the other in the UK. ;))

Anne, Cathy, Ingela...................THANKYOU :kissy:
I was literally moved to tears by the beautiful pieces in the Granna Glass Gallery...............and I have saved it to favourites so I can have another good cry!  Thank you so much Ingela.
You are all so generous with your knowledge.......and I feel really clever that I came to the correct conclusion as you experts, I have just gone up in my own estimation!!!!!!!

Now, I have got some lovely pieces of Granna Glass.....thankfully all labelled, and I would be very happy to share pictures with you all if you would like to see them.......just say.

Sadly, I had a piece that I sold......why?  I don't know!!! I just did!! I only have this one picture of it! Now I have seen the owl in the beautiful Granna Glass Gallery you took me to Ingela, I am wondering if................but it didn't have a label, so...............?
This is it:-
