It cannot be VMC Verrerie Mécanique Champenoise which started in 1985, much closer to 50s.

When did they start then, you have 85 in your book but this item could not have been made then as the decorating company no longer existed then and the transfer on this piece was used in the 50s.

there was a merger of the gobletterie division of VMC and BSN in 1985 - so technically that is the starting date.

So VMC must have existed earlier as a separate entity for this piece to exist.
