Lovely Covered Jar Marked "Tchecoslovaquie"
« on: October 24, 2008, 08:08:30 PM »
Hello!

I have a lovely covered jar that features frosted birds on branches under boughs of frosted leaves.  The real jewel of the piece is that the handle on the lid is a pair of frosted birds sitting on a wreath of frosted leaves.  The rest of the jar is clear glass and the details of the birds are quite striking

It measures approx. 4" across and 4.25" to the top of the handle on the lid.  The only marking is "TCHECOSLOVAQUIE" acid etched on the base.  From researching your site I've learned that this mark is usually found on glass intended for export to France.  Would that make it pre-war?

I have included some photos (please let me know if they don't show up.)  If possible, I'd love to know more about it, i.e., manufacturer, pattern name, etc.  Thank you for your time and consideration!

Julie
