Italian Glass Centerpiece Bowl....input appreciated
« on: January 07, 2009, 05:46:03 PM »
Hi! I've been trying to research this piece, and have found what looks to be an identical piece on a well-known Murano glass website. :)   I'm just wondering who is making these?

This thing is 22" long! I'm wondering what the technique is called also - the heavily ribbed body is clear glass over a bright tangerine red, white interior, with gold splashed throughout. Bottom is polished shiny, not ground and matte like some newer pieces I've seen from China.

Any input on this would be most appreciated!

I stuck a bunch of photos on a webpage, to make it easier to view:

Thanks you all...

Just wanted to let you all know that I received this information on another site, so you can "resolve" this thread. :)

A bowl of this design in a different color is shown on page 153 of Leslie Pina's Italian Glass Century 20. It is attributed to Barbini -- always nice to have a documented piece of glass.

So, yes, it is Murano. Even better, it is a Barbini design.

Thanks gang

Kelli
