Topic: half-sized vaseline table epergne (pressed glass)

I have looked through all of the Vallerysthal/Portieux catalogs, the milk Glass book, the toy/children's glass books, with nothing coming up.  This is about an inch, maybe two inches bigger than what would be considered "toy glass".

It is pressed in a 3-part mold.  Height is 8 3/4" tall.  diameter of foot: 3 1/2".  top max diameter of vase: 3 1/2".  max diameter of the upper portion of the base: 6 1/2".  The glass feels heavy as compared to it's size, but has no bell tone when I flick the separated pieces.  the base of the top and the receptor hole on the base are both rough-ground, like a perfume stopper and the perfume bottle.

Anyone recognize the pattern or know who made this cutie?

Just thought I would pop back in and let everyone know that the little epergne has been identified.  It is called RIBS AND SCALLOPS, and appears in THE COLLECTORS ENCY. OF MILK GLASS by Newbound, pg. 55.  The piece is shown in blue opaque glass, identified as Vallerysthal/Portieux, and the blue version was identified by a 'PV' paper label.  No date of production was given.  Others have forwarded pictures of the piece in white milk glass, and a clear example that either is 'sick' glass (long term damage from moisture) or it was made to look that way.  I don't own the pic, so I cannot share.

Bernard, the only credit I deserve is 'shopping' the picture around to enough people.  It was several others who found the ID.  One found an old auction from 2006 in milk glass.  another found it in the milk glass book.  another had a picture of the piece in clear.  Networking is the best!  Dave

just to underline what you've found; please be aware that these are still in production at Portieux and sold at Vallérysthal's show room - ergo, may be new!

yup, same pattern, but I have no reports of any vaseline glass being made recently (last 20 years).  there is good wear on the bottom of this piece, and there is no embossed markings, which means mine probably was only marked with a PV sticker.
