Perthshire Fake? No!
« on: February 22, 2009, 10:54:26 PM »
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270346987289&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=017

I know, I have paid to much, ( no shipping costs!)
but:
isnt it a nice weight?
The item is Perthshire, but the center cane is not "P" ?!?!?
Ergo: what is it?
Looks like an arrow or something like that?
Regards

I don't think you paid too much at all.

The set up is just like a Perthshire PP84, a limited edition paperweight made in 1984. -Except I don't think the PP84 had an arrow cane in the center. I've seen some Perthshires with what looks like a rune in the center. I think this is one of them.

Very pretty colours.

You found a good one!
I collect Scottish and Italian paperweights and anything else that strikes my fancy.

As well as the regular editions, they made some "company" items based on normal PP designs but inlcuding a company logo cane. One that had some PCC members confused for a while had a central cane with two wavy white lines, one above the other (sorry, but I don't recall which company that was for). Maybe the bent "Arrow" cane is also a company logo?

Sorry for the delay in responding to this thread.  I was hoping someone would add some clarity.  I have a selection of canes that I believe came from Perthshire that contains this mystery anchor cane.  Unfortunately, I never marked the bag.

Take a look:

HI

These are indeed Perthshire canes. Perthshire were very good at supplying sets of canes often held in a small box with a magnifier lid

Allan -

Are those anchors or arrows?

Will I finally get to meet you in Toledo?  I'll be there.

Arrow canes would be a better choice of description.  I think Kulles introduced the term anchor cane when describing St. Louis arrow canes.

Yes, I am planning to go to Toledo.  Please send me a separate email.
