I don't have attribution for the jug, but I will tell you all I know about it.

A decade or so back we found the twin to your jug at Brimfield Antiques show (Mass.) We compared it to two similarly coloured jugs that we have and we are convinced that they are from the same maker. The other two jugs are known as the Czechoslovakian Maid and Man. The Czechoslovakian Maid was reported and named by Carnival Glass pioneer Rose Presznick in the 1960s. The reason for her choice of name is that she stated she had seen a crystal example with the moulded words MADE IN CZECHOSLOVAKIA.

I can't confirm or deny this Czech attribution. But at least you have a bit mor background info on the cranberry Toby. By the way, in our book we named him THE FRIAR.

Here's the Czechoslovakian Maid. I don't have a photo to hand of the Man, but he is very similar - just a different outfit and face  :)

I am certainly not aware of any source that indicates the maker. Maybe someone will know more.

I feel a bit uncomfortable that my information here has been (mis)used to authenticate your eBay auction for this item, Lynne. You even got me to post photos of my Czech Lady (which, incidentally, took me several hours of "hunting" to find the photos for you). I was not aware that any of my information and certainly not my photos, were going to be used as part of your selling promotion on eBay.

But what has really disturbed me is the fact that you have totally misunderstood what I have writtten here. You seem to imply in your eBay auction that my Czech Lady is paired with your Friar. (This is what you write in your auction "THEY WERE ACTUALLY A PAIR HE AND SHE"). No. The Czech Lady is paired with the Czech Man. The Friar is a different item altogether. I referred to it as a "twin" to these pieces because it is so similiar in style, colouring etc. But the Czech Lady is not paired with the Friar. She is paired with the Czech Man.

Your auction for reference.
