Whitefriars uncatalogued ?
« on: January 19, 2019, 08:57:51 PM »
On my travels if I see Whitefriars single bud vases I always pick them up even if they are quite common. They are still hand made things of great skill.
Today i had to do a double take when i saw this example(patt no 9243?).
It is 16 inches high and made of lead crystal, I think they are normaly made in soda glass.
Have any GMB members seen any other examples of this size Whitefriars bud vase?.
Sorry about the poor photos, i was keen to post this message.
Tim

There is a pair like your tallest (in an amber I think) in a local antiques centre, can't remember if they are quite as tall as 16" though. I did handle them and thought they were Whitefriars, couldn't say now if soda or not.

Thanks for your reply John, I have since had time to look at the whitefriars catalogues at whitefriars.org (thanks to them).
The correct pattern number for my vase is 9284 and seems to have been produced in that size from 1949 to 1964.
Should do my homework before posting.
Thanks again,
Tim
