Sklounion:
Hi,
The archive you are looking for is NRA code:
GB/NNAF/B2258 1822-1945,
and is probably not complete, as no NRA reference after these dates....
The last contact I had was: Ms D Stobbs, at Pilkington Group Archives and Records Service, the rest as per Anne's post.

Marcus

Hi, I wrote to that address Anne about 6 months ago, and got no reply. I telephoned later on and was told by a rather bored and disinterested man, that everything was in archive and not known when it may surface. I had planned to write a freelance article about the revived interest in Chance glass and explained this to him, but obviously his energy levels were low that day and I got no further. So, good luck with your research endeavors. Emmi
Anne:
Hmmmm perhaps a visit may fare better than a letter then Emmi? Your experience isn't very encouraging though.
I thought the whole point of archives was to keep records for future use and reference? Not much good if they cannot be accessed. :(
Sklounion:
If anyone has difficulty with access, then you should ask The National Register of Archives for advise on access, and possibly to intervene on your behalf, particularly where the archive appears on the NRA Register.
As this collection of Chance papers also includes 19th-century pattern books for stained glass, I would not mind having a look myself, except as as folks remind me, "Location, location, location".....
Regards,
Marcus
