out today on my travels i came accross this early glass object it seemed to me after id bought it to be a hyacinth vase of sorts upon getting it home my mum said it was too wide and the bulb would fall through, My dad seems to think it might be a mixing bowl that would fit into a lead lined container for your green/black tea before mixing. He said when i asked him why do you think that? The foot is smaller than the rim and early glass would be larger than the rim for stability. But this is early glass with a snapped pontil and lots of wear good weight etc thats how he quantifes it must be fitted into something? The designing to the sides of leaves and vines seems to be acid etched really nicely but there appears to be later decoration applied also to a lesser quality vines applied here and there and initials as in photographs "C.G." all not done acid etched why go to this trouble if its hidden in a lead lined container from view? Im not sure what its for any help greatly received...
p.s. vase 4" hgh 4" rim diam 3" foot diam...
