Topic: lilac coloured Whitefriars Looking Lump

Let me say straight away that it's the vase on the right, and I'm 99.9% sure it's not WF. It is however well made stands 8.75" high and is 3" square and has good wear to the base, so can anyone put me on the right track before I go on my hols.

I could be wrong, but this vase appears to be in a different league to the Heart Foundation ones.  Those ones look pretty shoddy (from memory) + a bit sharp to the upper rim, plus the bark pattern is kind of ridged on them and their colour is muddy.

Maybe this one is an import by Jones & Co from Sweden.  Unfortunately I haven't referenced that, it's just what I've picked up from www.whitefriars.com.  

Any information is good information, right?

I think you're right it looks nothing like this lump, the spooky thing is that looking at the base of the WF coffin vase and the lilac lump they are remarkably similar. It is well polished with a circular type centre.

Maybe this one is an import by Jones & Co from Sweden.  Unfortunately I haven't referenced that, it's just what I've picked up from www.whitefriars.com.

According to Millers, these vases are not cased.

Jones & Co vases were not cased to keep them cheap, I have a one and right enough it is a solid colour (no clear glass base), also I don't think they swung to lilac, just a feeling. I don't know if Nigel has any update on that

The vase does look similar but seems slightly different surface texture also the ones I own are 6.75" as in Nigel's book so that does not add up, but they may have made different sizes I don't know about, I have seen gigantic oblong vases but they are moulded and not refined

Is the top rim polished Chuggy?

Anyway – I love the Emerald cut overerlay vase, what’s the history with that is it older Bohemian, it looks very well made – sorry off topic

Top rim is polished and it does have a feeling of quality about it, but still hideous.
The Bohemian one I haven't had a chance to look into yet, bought it last week on e-bay for the best reason of all I love it. The cameo work in the horses is lovely and contrasts well with the lower part of the vase.

Not 100% sure but they could be Ingridglas, Germany

I had great difficulty finding out anything at all about IG, not even a location. One problem is they're a dealer/ relabeler (like LSA, Leonardo, Henry Dean) and do not seem to have their own production. Their client base is florists, and they managed to fill the world with confusable crackles and treebarks and Ikebana bowls. One highly succesful item is the tree bark series in milk glass.
