An interesting snippet for those interested in bottles (period before 1914)

The German method of making bottles differed from the English method in that they used the “MODZ” (Block) Method.  A cast-iron block was used for forming the parison prior to transfer to the blow mould...
After blowing the bottle in the finishing mould, the glassblower marked the bottle with his mark prior to it being taken to the lehr by the taker-in.  Each glassblower had his own particular mark...
