Topic: Would this be an Early Mdina Studio Glass piece ???

Picked this up today paid a little more than i would normally do but
i could not leave it and needed to give it a new home, It certainly
reminds me of Mdina glass but i have not seen the shape before and
it also has a sharp pontil scar which is quite unusual. The piece measures
4" x 3" .

I've not seen one of these before either, but they did experiment with goblets a bit.
The broken pontil scar is simply because it is on the foot of the goblet. Goblets all tend to have that. 
In answer to your question, yes. But I can't say exactly how early. I'd suspect towards the later end of early rather than the early end...  

The bowl has a few surface ribs - probably from the same mould as was used for the little jugs the Boffos made.

The ribs are also found on different size vases, they might have been made with a dip mould before blowing to the final shape.

Thanks for the replies i was thinking of those vases myself they look quite similar don't they
i do think it's astounding the amount of experimentations that must have gone on when they
were starting out and wished i had been around to have visited the place it must have been a
hive of activity what with holiday makers and others dropping by.
