Tall uranium vase
« on: July 02, 2009, 04:54:27 PM »
Another family item that has been rescued from my hoard of sisters, it stands a little over 12 inches or 31 cm tall.

It glows brightly under UV light, I would guess it was English made but can anyone be more specific?

Many thanks, John.

Would be nice to find out the maker finally! Mine came from Austria, so Bohemia is another poss?

Bohemia, Belgium and Bavaria are known to have produced these floor vases. And who knows who else....

Interesting, I will see if I can dig up any info from the family on where and when it might have been bought (might need a Ouija board though).

Bit small for a floor vase or does the term not imply size?

Pamela, is yours uranium too?

John.

Seeing the top of your vase John, sent me on a search for this one. I think this could also be from the same maker.....sorry that I don't know who....it looks very much the same at the top as yours.

Tina, I think your vase looks a bit more modern than this one, not that I know how old either of them are, just a guess.

Pamela, Uranium pink is the colour I go when I have had too much to drink. ;D

John.

John, your uranium question isn't for nothing:
Yes, Christine is right, THIS my vase is just pink and white  :)

BUT I've got several pink items which glow brilliantly under black light, like for example Brockwitz' 1915 (or earlier) vanity set items:

http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/toilettenservice/01212.html - especially the lidded dish

and also later Brockwitz glass like one of these:

http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/01076.html - not vividly, but green

further uranium glass:

http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/vasen/02532.html - amber
http://www.pressglas-pavillon.de/schalen/00763.html - pink Walther
and another pinky-amber crystal cut that went to Dirk meanwhile because not pressed glass - Hallo Dirk

and another vase, which remains unphotographed, I must admit  :o this latter one is similarly shaped as yours, is pink inside and the outer white glass is very uranium
