Glass Plate Signed Johnolyth or Jonolyth
« on: July 09, 2009, 10:52:39 PM »
Hi Everyone

My parents have had this plate for some years and have given me the tasks of finding
out about it. From the signature I can make out Jonolyth or Johnolyth. After a couple of
web searches the name Hantich&Co seems the most likely but I can only find Vases they
have made. There seems to be little written about the makers!
The plate is 48.5cm from top to bottom.

Any information is welcome as I'm a bit stuck.
Thankyou very much for looking.

Hi Salts

Yes classic Jonalyth a brand name for Hantich and Co a small glass works in Haida -Bohemia/Czech c1930s

This stuff is quite rare and technically amazing -that's all in the glass no enamelling

I too have only seen vases before, but now we know they did plates

Even the signature is usually within the glass

cheers

Mike

Hi Salt   :D

That's a lovely piece of glass.  Could you possibly add the photograph using our uploading facility?  There's an Attachment box under the Reply window - it's dead easy to use.  By using that option, your beautiful plate will be able to aid others in identification in the future, as Photobucket links go dead after a while.

Feel free to email me at:   maxeen     AT    aol.com if you need help.  :D
