Sommerso with Threading - Help ID Please
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:24:36 PM »
I have had this for quite a while and it has always been kind of a puzzle to me. It stands about 5.75 inches tall and is 3.5 inches in diameter. The walls of the vase are .625 inches thick. It has a lot of age wear underneath, and appears to me to be 60's. The inner vessel is amber, with a clear exterior and the threading is green. The top rim appears to be a factory polished rim, and not a cut down. It was presented as Murano when I bought it, but I have always had my doubt as the threading on the exterior does not strike me as Italian. I am now wondering if it is Czech.

Looking for opinions, as it has me stumped.

As always, TIA

Craig

This reminds me of a piece Marcus once owned that was designed by Jiri Ĺ uhajek for Moser.  I don't know if this is by the same designer/factory but it might be a good point to start searching.  Hopefully Marcus will see this thread and comment.
