Date periods Rimmed + non rimmed Caithness Thimbles
« on: July 24, 2009, 05:15:09 PM »
Hi have aquired a few Caithness thimbles recently, some have rims on the bottom, some don't, does anyone know which were made first, and if so what sort of date periods both were introduced?

Hello and welcome to the board. :)

You might find the answer in Frank's Scotlandsglass website which has lots of the Caithness catalogues online: http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/ - use the search box to find the Thimbles...

Hi Anne, Thanks for your response, i had a look on there earlier and the only dated ones (i found) were ones with rims from the 1989 catalougue, which doesn't give me a time period when they were introduced/stopped, just a circa period?

Once we get the rest of the catalogues up answers to such questions should be easier... but there is a lot of work in that. Stppoed adding at the moment as the software is being upgraded which has caused a LOT of work and expense.
