D'Avesn INSECT large pin dish with scalloped rim - opalescent

(1/2) > >>

NKP:
Found this beautiful pindish this morning  :chky: and although I knew the name "D'avesn" hadn't really looked into him. After finding more about the man and some other object leaves me with one question: can anyone name and/or date this specific dish ?

Diameter: approx. 14.5 centimetres

Lustrousstone:
Nice one, but perhaps 14.5 cm is rather large for a pin dish  >:D

Mike M:

According to the great 'Lexikon'

this signature was used 1926-32 - I've often thought it went on a little longer (at least until the war)

made either by 'choisy le roi' (later called Sevres) or 'cristalleries st remy'  (that's according to 'opalescence' by Decele)

sorry no idea of name -not listed anywhere I can find

cheers

Thanks Mike for all the extra information (although too bad it's impossible to pin dis  :P down to a certain range)

Sklounion:
Hi,
Pierre D'Avesn (real name Pierre Girre) 1901-1990, designed this range, known in France as "Abeilles". Cannot confirm the mouldmaker, or works, particularly difficult as D'Avesn appears to have worked for many companies.
