Wonderful site - (Murano Glass) - like a book online
« on: August 12, 2009, 03:36:29 AM »
I ran across this site tonight and thought I would give the link. It has some pieces that I had not seen attributed before. It is pdf, so takes a while to load.

www.porroartconsulting.it/pdf/Porro_asta_50.pdf

Oops -- should have put this in the Reference Sites section. Sorry. Could you please move this message, Mods? :-[

Following a request, I have put on my Moderator hat and added "(Murano glass)" to the title of this thread.

Certainly, the details in the pdf file (which displays in a web browser) are very useful - even if the text is mostly in Italian only. However, the link is actually to an archived auction catalogue (Porro & C. Art Consulting, "Vetri di Murano del '900", 10 December 2008) and not a website, as such.

When I look at the Porro & C. main site ( http://www.porroartconsulting.it/ ) there is an option to view in English but that seems to only apply to the main "menu" headings. When looking at the menu link for "Catalogues - Archives" the "Vetri di Murano del '900" catalogue is available as a pdf link. And there are two other pdf links as well ...
- a 2-page document that seems to be an "addendum" (I don't read Italian)
- a "sales price list".

Perhaps we could change the title of this thread to something more meaningful? Any suggestions?
KevinH

Definitely could use a better name in the Reference area. How about Murano Catolog: Venini, Cappellin, & Others. We could add "in Italian," but many would not be bothered by that. So many of the Murano catalogs are in Italian. Thanks for pointing out the name problem, KevH.

I suggest you save the file on your harddrive and use any title you want.
