VICTORIAN ENGLISH GLASS?
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:07:31 PM »
Hello, I really need some help. I have a wonderful carafe which I think is English and made in the late 1800's early 1900's. Can anyone help. It has beautiful hand engraving and glit work edging. The glass is thick and frosted and seems to glow. Thanks for looking Dianne.

Here's the photo which replaces the original middle one. Thanks again Dianne.

Where's the engraving? And can we see the base please. Doesn't strike me as English. I would have gone for Bohemia but who knows.

Grrr, I'm so tired and making mistakes. There is no engraving. I meant to say hand enamelled. Under the base is the roughest unpolished pontil mark out there. I can take a photo if you like.

Mod: text referring to original middle photo now removed.

The container is very old and hand painted. Sorry I put the wrong photo up. Thanks again for trying to help. Dianne. (Brisbane Australia)

Mod: See posts above with tidied text and display of correct "centre photo".

Thank you "Mod" for your help. I hope someone knows where this carafe was made. Cheers Dianne.
