I hope that somewhere in the UK we are fostering a generation of new people to replace the likes of Babara Morris and Dan Klein. Barbara is another big loss.

Graham,
Thank you for letting us know. Barbara was an inspirational lady and it is indeed sad news. Amazing to realise that she still occasionally appeared on the Antiques Roadshow during her eighties.

Graham and Nigel — I presume you are talking about the author of Victorian Table Glass & Ornaments, 1978. Is this the same Barbara Morris as the former owner of the wealth of wonderful A&C material sold at Salisbury by Woolley & Wallis in 2010? Was she connected to William Morris (presumably by marriage)?

Was it the surname only that made you think of a possible connection Bernard, I wondered if you had some inkling of definite information on this one.
Morris himself had something like seven or eight siblings I believe, although the connection would not have been via sisters or his own two daughters, nor of course his own wife Janey.
From memory he came from Essex, originally - either the Epping area or very close to that part of the world.

As The Times obit is now behind their pay-wall, I've hunted down some alternatives for reference...
There is an obit to Barbara Morris here: LINK or you can download it as a PDF file if you prefer.
Also a fascinating article about her in the V&A Journal (2009) may be found here: LINK.
