Slender cased glass vase, Murano?
« on: August 30, 2009, 02:42:02 PM »
Hi, my second find today is this, I think, beautiful, slender cased glass vase. The outer glass has a yellow/green tinge to it, the inner reddy pink. I cant see any air bubbles trapped inside, would this be Italian/Murano glass. It stands 12" tall.
Cheers, David.

Mod: subject amended to something more descriptive! :)

Looks like Murano to me. The outer layer may even be uranium glass

From the shape of the neck and rim, I would say it is a Cenedese vase. I found one that had a label on eBay (#320414573577). These come in different colors. There are another set of blue ones being offered on eBay. Nice find!

It is a great piece of glass. I am drooling over it...

The color combo is fabulous....

I would be surprised if the middle layer does not glow with a black light. It appears to me to be a tripple sommerso with an internal red vessel, outside that is the vaseline, and it is cased finally in clear....

It would look absolutely great on this table   ;D :
Just let me know if you need my shipping address

I didn't pay enough attention to the size of the vase. The ones on eBay are 8-9 inches tall. The shape is still right for Cenedese. I'd feel more certain if we could locate one that is 12" tall. It definitely is a gorgeous vase.

Craig, I'm the jelous one, that is an amazing table of glass  I think you are right about triple cased, I thought that it had the outer clear glass. I will have to try it with the back light. I'll keep you in mind if  do move it on, but for now its mine to enjoy
Anita, thanks for the info, I had never even heard of Cenedese before you mentioned it, I have looked at the ones on Ebay and see what you mean about the shape ( although mine is much nicer in colour!! ;D ) It would be great if I could place it as a Cenedese vase, maybe out there is another one like mine with a label
Cheers guys, David

The color on your vase is our favorite Italian color combination......  It all started with a bowl at a yard sale for $10 about 8 years ago. Really nice pieces, like the one you found, are tough to come by.......  Enjoy it, I know I would... it was a great score.....
