Daum bird dish?
« on: September 05, 2009, 07:42:07 PM »
I have seen this bird dish before whilst trawling the net hence the reason I recognised it although can I find it again when I need it - no.
I saw two of these bird dishes today, the first stall holder told me it was Daum as I suspected although it is not marked.  The second stall holder didnt know.  I bought it believing it was and because it is in outstanding condition and quality and ofcouse I like it.  I bought it for 4 euros far less than the first stallholder wanted.  Can anyone confirm or otherwise that it is Daum?

Slightly out of my comfort zone, but I thought maybe Art Vannes?

I did look up Art Vannes also but couldnt find it on that one either.  I have an Art Vannes Half Pear dish and it is not the same quality as this bird surpasses it.  I will research on that tho  ;)

This one is Art Vannes, I have had it for a year or so and I still don't know what to do with it or which bird it resembles (not native to Britain is my only conclusion). I have been keeping an eye out for them and one sold recently on fleabay (with a slightly bent beak).

I'm told the story went that......

While both Vannes and Daum were producing this style of glass -up to the 1990s. They were made in the very same factory and the only thing that separated them was which signature was added at the end.

So what were the unsigned ones?

I can't be certain of this but it seemed a common 'myth'

cheers
