Well Peter, we aren't moving just yet but we have bought quite a few more shelves, cabinets and an extra china cabinet! So there has been a lot of house re-arranging. I particularily love my indiana pieces as the colors are deep and the iridization is superb (maybe they used the radium method?) I do have one piece that is a little diamond shaped candy or nut dish that I got real cheap because the interior had lost some of it's iridization. Maybe due to lots of use and washing? Hence I try not to use them a lot. If you want to learn more about the indiana pieces try this link :

Many thanks to Donna for this site!!!

And thanks Glen for letting him know about the confirmation. They are pretty aren't they? Even though they were produced in the 70's I still love them.
So many things to collect and only so much money...

Thank's Shanbeat, I've just identified two peices of glass from that site.  :D

Indiana Goofus Chrysanthemum Plate

Indiana Harvest Vase
http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=0&pos=0

I didn't know what that Goofus plate was but I resisted posting it on the board because.... I was embarassed about owning it.

But now i'm proud of it and it will take pride of place in the top draw.  :)

I found it stuffed in one of my cramped drawers, make of it what you wish.  :D

Sorry about that, I was logged out again.

I was trying to correct an error but I didn't realised that the edit button wasn't available and I pressed the quote button by mistake.

Tigerchips, that's a super piece of Goofus, don't be ashamed of it at all. It looks like it has very little colour missing? It rarely seems to survive intact, as the paint gets scratched off over time.

Would I be right in saying that Goofus is not Carnival glass but was sold at carnivals?

Just out of curiosity what other kind of glass was sold at carnivals?  :)

For some really interesting articles on Goofus have a look here at Angela Bowey's Goofus Glass page: http://www.glassencyclopedia.com/goofusglass.html and a link from that to this one also on Angela's site by G David Ballentine: http://www.glass.co.nz/goofus.htm. These should answer some of your Goofus questions. :)

Thank's Anne, i'm beggining to like this plate now. Though I do prefer the iridised carnival glass that Shanbeat has.

I wonder if I should start a collection of Goofus glass plates? Not that I have space to put them anywhere. It's  a shame I can't get plate holders that hang from the ceiling.

Goofus glass is most definitely not Carnival Glass. And the only kind of Carnival Glass IS iridised Carnival Glass   (If it wasn't iridised it wouldn't be Carnival Glass).

The name "Carnival" was adopted during the 1950s - decades after the glass had been introduced (the "start" date is circa 1907 to 1908). Carnival wasn't given away at Carnivals when it was first produced. In fact some of it was quite high priced stuff. It was marketed through the usual outlets of shops and catalogues (a bit like mail order). It's a loooong story

Thank's for your help Glen. I've finally fallen in love.

With the plate I mean.
