A big green horrible car boot mistake...
« on: September 06, 2009, 12:50:22 PM »
Hello All!

Would anyone please be kind enough to inform me of the origins of this vase?  I bought it at a boot sale today for 50p, and I imagine it is some bit of old 1970's junk.

It stands 13".

Many thanks in advance,
Stu.

PS.  Also shown is a United Nations glass ashtray bought at the same boot sale (just for interest's sake).

Need to see the base. It's either modern or 20/30 years older than 1970s IMHO

Thanks re the clock John!   :D

Hi Christine.  I have now uploaded the base to the original query.  Where a Whitefriars fan would want to see a smooth dimple, this one looks as though any rod was just broken off and left.

The inner walls have pieces of (what I presume to be) the mould sticking up proud of the glass itself.

Thanks for getting back to me on this.

Thanks Keith!

Isn't it funny when you see another one?  Oh well, at least others exist.  I wonder who made them?  I suppose it could be anyone really.

You know those typical (really typical) fish that you see at every car boot sale?  The ones that either lay on their side or stand up?  I've seen one of these vases in exactly those very typical tutti-frutti colours.

Does this mean likely Murano or more likely Czech, I wonder?

(I'm not selling it... it stops my cats running around the back of the sofa).
