Small iridescent bowl ,button pontil signed - Hothouse MS
« on: August 19, 2009, 07:42:28 PM »
I really like this piece. It has an overall iridescence, which a craqueleur pattern to it.
It has an unusual button pontil (like a mini Monart) It is inscribed hothouse MS.
I have found a Hothaouse glass marble makers in the US they make a few vases, not in this style , nor do any of the named makers hae the initials MS. So I have assumed hothouse is the name of the pattern.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
David

I think I've found it! I searched this forum after having no luck and found some old posts mentioning Hothouse http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,4180.msg33438.html#msg33438

I haven't found any similar examples. However, the MS would suggest Malcolm Sutcliffe and rule out the American Hothouse glass.
