Maker I.D. please squat urn shaped vase
« on: October 20, 2009, 12:20:08 AM »
Greetings, purchased this squat urn shaped vase a couple of years ago and wondered who made it. 13cm H 13.5cm W clear glass handles from the broad shoulders to thick lip, cut, polished -possibly moulded- base, body filled with tiny bubbles-pulegoso?? which gives it a slightly yellowish tinge. Any comments would be appreciated. regards Carol

Hi Carol,
this vase looks like Skrdlovice antique - originaly fabricated in 1943 to 1946 but later reproduced by Beranek Glass in 90ties.

Some examples of this Skrdlovice productin you can find at my Picassa - go please to www.webareal.cz/ceskoslovenskesklo and click to EXHIBITION item.

Thanks Jindrich but I could not find, for the life of me, any item with the same treatment. Will take a better look when I have more time-it's summer time at this end of the world and we have wall to wall people here in Golden Bay. Many thanks Carol

Hi! Carol,  A lovely looking vase.  From the pics. of the base.  I would of said, possibly SKLO.  I could be wrong but worth investigating.

Definitely sklo, because that is the Czech word for glass. But NOT Sklo Union, as these factories made almost nothing but pressed glass, and that piece is mould blown

This is the sort of thing Jindrich meant http://picasaweb.google.cz/Jindra8526/MagicOfGlass2#5424446340640061858
