I have to say that enameled stuff does not generally appeal to me either, but I am really enthralled with the piece...  It is very very nice....

I think the Stourbridge option is possible, they made some nice opalescent glass early 20thC, i
think this dates to 1890-1930.
I dont think it says Italian, Anita, any makers to suggest?
Im still leaning towards French, ive been all through the good Bohemian sites, (Eddy, Alfredo,Wayne etc)
and enamelleing in style of fritz Heckert and similar.
Im thinking its blown, maybe mould blown, theres not really a pontil, just a small 'nipple' of glass
on the base, any suggestions how the opalescent lumps get inside the vase but smoothish outside?
Although its not signed , could it be one of the opalescent French makers??

More digging to do!

it's definitely not typical bohemian, but I wouldn't rule it out. It probably isn't bohemian, but it could be.

Found something very similar (technically speaking) in Glas der Moderne 1880-1930 from the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin (1994) It is an opalescent vessel with stylised floral decor, circa 1920 made by Gräflich Schafgott'sche Josephinenhütte and designed by Alexander Pfohl. The decoration is in Schwarzlot, gold and transparent enamel. I believe the original is in Düsseldorf, there may be some further pieces in Passau.
In any case, another alley to explore.

Peejy, Ivo, the Fritz Heckert vase on Mikes site, has many similarities, when i got the vase home,
Josephinenhutte was the name i couldnt quite remember, but was thinking of! 
I see from Ivos book, that they merged with Fritz Heckert in 1923, so i think maybe we are in the
right area
I havent looked at the Passau, or Glas der Moderne 1880-1930 , i will do a bit of googling now
and see whats on the net, maybe i can find the contents of the book on the web?
