unusual shaped u. posy vases??
« on: November 10, 2009, 08:16:51 PM »
I very nearly typed 'u. shaped'. ;D   Have feeling these have come from within 'holders', as the ground rim bases are very clean and scratch free.   Very unusual shape tho.   They do glow, but batteries in torch are a bit on the blink at the moment.  No marks and about 5.5 cms. tall, and the greyish smear is actually within the metal.  Has anyone seen them before.      thanks for looking.   Paul S.

colour, obvious quality and 'tails' remind me of my Hoffmann INGRID 'individual salts' ? :-\

Pamela  -  re your suggestion of 'salts'  -  whilst I see the connection you are making with Hoffmann INGRID  -  don't think I can agree the same for mine.   I have many 'salts', picked up of the past few years, and they all have one thing in common  -  they are shallow, and these two u. pieces are not really the same.   Wud have thought that 'salts' needed to be shallow in order to get at the salt.   I suspect my pieces may remain a mystery, unless someone actually recognizes them.
However, as always thanks for your help and interest.   Paul S.

Hi Paul,

ebay set
Or are they slightly different? Can´t tell for sure from the pics.

Dirk  -  congratulations on your successful 'sleuthing'  -  and I wud think they are almost certainly the same pattern and use  -  actually from my point of view more useful than salts ;).      Both mine and the ebay items have the same number of panels ( 8 ), and and the height is almost identical.    The only difference that I can see immediately is that alternate panels are satinized (?) on the pink ones.     As you say, the decanter is a truly amazing shape  -  and I only wish that I had more of the shot glasses, plus the decanter, but you never know  -  if I keep looking.................      My sincere thanks for your help.         Paul S.
