Rimini glass
« on: December 12, 2009, 06:05:34 AM »
Is there such a thing as Rimini glass please?

There is no mention anywhere here of it and IMHO, the piece in question (hooped, white lined) looks like the kind of $20-30 glass that is often misidentified as Scandinavian.

The photo is not mine to copyright and there will be general hysteria if I upload it.

TIA

Deb

Rimini or Bimini perhaps?

It sounds like it could possibly be Lauscha, which is often mistaken for Bimini. Deb, can you post a link?

Hi All
Thanks for your feedback. If it hasn't been mentioned even once in all the years the GMB has been up, there must be a problem.

I only know of Rimini as always paired with Bitossi as in pottery.

The picture was in an auction catalogue and someone sent me the photo. IMHO once a piece is in play, it belongs to no-one. I sort of wish such pics could be posted with a watermark across them so they can't be used commercially but are usable by members for reference.

However you have confirmed my suspicions. This glass looks on the thin side. It's colourful, very 60s and I've bought similar in charity shops for under $10. Poor woman's Carnaby. ;-)
