Success at boot fair - one textured vase to ID
« on: June 10, 2007, 07:28:22 PM »
Finally, after 3 years of calling at the local boot fair I have had a relatively good days finds!  See    http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-7399

A couple of Whitefriars bubble bowls (one with a Bentley logo?!), a beautiful Aqua FLC Whitefriars five-lobed vase and a light blue textured vase of the type that are often listed as WF.  I often see these square vases attributed to Davidson's "Luna" range but info on those seems rather thin on the ground and I don't think this is one - anyone know who did make this one?  The base is moulded (no pontil mark) and the top is not polished - so does that mean it would have been pressed?  The top does have a lip so would it have been handled with a "gadget" and how would that have helped make it?  I've a lot to learn about moulded glass!

Here is a better photo http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-7397

I am trying to collect a good range of these square, round and hexagonal vases to try and pin down the colour ranges in the vain hope that I may be able to attribute them better in the future.  Still not found any with labels :(
Tim

I started with Carnival glass, then other C20 irridescent, then Whitefriars ducks, then Dartington FT Daisies etc, then Whitefriars Tricorns...when will it end?

I have this square textured (snakeskin effect?) vase in clear.  I don't think it is good quality and the rim makes me wonder if it should have had a lid somehow, but it is the perfect shape and size for displaying flowers ;D
Mine also does have a strange mark on the base (pics below).
Did this ever get any response on other threads or does anyone have any ideas on this one please?
many thanks
m
