To celebrate this new section... a new Copier vase.
« on: December 22, 2015, 02:51:53 PM »
I recently bought this vase in a mixed lot and was a little surprised to find a Copier etch-mark on it (since it was previously only known unsigned and had hitherto been attributed to Rozendaal.

A few days later the owner contacted me and asked to have it back. He had discovered a letter from Copier himself in which he gifted this vase to the owner's mother with a note that it had been decided NOT to put into the catalogue collection. It therefore does NOT appear in 'Copier Complete' but is definitely from the hand of the master.

I'm happy to let GMB be the first to publish this discovery!

ooh wow, that's a great discovery.
I have to ask, did you let the owner have it back?  eek, I know, rude to ask, but still .. I'm curious (blushes  :-[ )

;D I wanted to ask too, but held myself back.
That was very kind and decent of you, Jay.  :)
You didn't have to, not legally, and many folk nowadays would not have returned it, especially given it's such an unusual and desirable thing.
You've really cheered me up. :) :) :)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)
