Strange glass help please ?

Hi folks, can anyone tell me what this may be used for ? The maker also please ? Flat polished base approx 5 and a half inch high.The 2 nd pic is looking down on the top..the handles seem to be fused on rather than molded.

They were also made in the UK by the now defunct Heron Glass up here in Cumbria.

Yip..they look the same to me..will go look for heron example just to see the difference .
