Hi Janton. Pics on a completely white background will show the colour up better. Also a pic of the red/amber sommerso section would help as well. My opinion is that it is not Chinese. Although I have been wrong before!

I would assume it wouldn't be UV reactive, although I must admit, I have not tested my red/amber sommerso pieces for this.

Please give a bit more details in the Thread Heading to. I almost overlooked a sommerso piece  :o

My guess would be some unnamed Murano company, but not Poli. I think the UV light will reveal enough. I'm with Kane in thinking it's not Chinese and it doesn't look too much like Czech either.

Hopefully better pictures, and it really did look good under a light and behind white!!!

Thanks for all your posts and without doubt a better title is required.

Warm regards

J

J:

Much better--and more convincing--photos. It looks pretty good to me, wherever it comes from. I'm leaning even more to Murano, still not Poli. I have a little block vase that I just bought with similar colours. I've assumed that mine is Murano.

Thanks David and taking pictures of glass can be a nightmare, got a UV light coming so that should give us more clues.

Will do michelle when I unpack the box they are in (to repack  ::) for a long haul move). I have only checked a few of my Sommero pieces for UV reaction. I am sure i did not check the red and amber pieces as i thought most likely there would be no reaction. Will be interesting when I get around to it and see what happens.  ;D

I am with David on this and tending towards Murano as well. The pics on the white background show the colour perfectly and the shape of the piece better (i love the fluid nature to it). Lovely piece, great colour and shape.

Unfortunately I can not help with a maker on this though. I have seen this shape a few times (almost bidded on one that was definitely uranium  ), and the ones I have seen I am almost 100% sure they might have been Murano (room for error as they were not handled).

The majority of Poli pieces are not signed (EDITED - I have never seen a signed Poli piece). Some of the Poli pieces I do have though thankfully have the SVdA label.

Just remember janton...if it is sommerso, make sure it is in the title!  :chky:

-Also, David, is there a red/pinkish tinge to the clear glass? Or just camera reflection?

...runs back to work...

Kane:

You're right the first time: there is an orange/pink tinge to what is usually clear glass.  The yellow glows a nice green in UV light. It's a baby vase, btw, about 5" tall.
