Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows a possible maker for the pictured decanter? I believe to be 1950/60's. Other than that I know next to nothing. The bottom half has an intriguing bobbled/pimpled efect. Is it English?

it looks like an Empoli or Oberglas stoppered bottle from the 1970s - how is the stopper sitting in the neck? Is there a nylon or plastic plug?

Thank you for the information you provided. Unfortunately the plug is missing which no doubt renders the decanter worthless. I found it in my house and it must have belonged to a family member at some point. Oh well there go my dreams of selling it to someone who might have appreciated it more.

Most of the Empoli decanters I've handled have been missing their plastic bottle inserts. I've wondered if there is a goblin that steals them from the decanters or if they are sold that way for some strange reason.

The plastic perishes over time, it tends to become brittle with bits snapping off and then the whole thing breaks up and the rest is usually thrown away.

They keep them with all these single socks, which disappear half-way between washing and drying, I´m sure!  ;D
