That's a very reasonable question. But given the number of lesser quality early Vasart weights that are around, it would seem to be just regular production with some being better than others. A quick, rough grinding of the base was a normal process - some have really good finishing but most do not. It was bread-and-butter business, not "art glass weights", so anything that was half-reasonable would have made it to the market place.
