Goebel Artis Orbis Gustav Klimt tea light holder
« on: March 31, 2010, 09:23:35 AM »
Hi all
I picked this up yesterday and thought it was quite an interesting little thing so thought i would add some pictures for you all.
Its not worth a fortune, or very old, nor is it exceptionally rare... just interesting :)
It has the Gustav Klimt painting Expectation around the sides
The base reads
Goebel Artis Orbis Gustav Klimt Erwartung/Erfullung
It stands at 7cms tall, 6.75 wide. Goebel made a whole range of these with different artist, also made in porcelain.

thanks for posting -  Klimt is one of my favourite artists  -  and it looks attractive.   Also not exactly worthless looking at the prices  -  was it another chartiy shop?   Probably still being made I guess.    Just think if it had been signed by him ;D

YES I AM THE CHARITY SHOP QUEEN  ;D 75p, so im happy. very pretty little thing.
Would have been nice had it been actually one of his work and signed, i think that may have been and early retirement piece  ;D
Im not massivly into art, as in paintings, its an area i nothing about at all, but i would say that Klimt's The Kiss is one of my favourite paintings if i had to pick one.

Remarkable price variations in those shops... for transfer or screen printed seems a bit high, guess it is the Goebel name

especially if you check them against the ebay prices, most are buy it nows, also with big price differences. Lowest around £10... none sold.
Still not a great beauty from a glass side of things, not for me anyway, just something a bit unusual and interesting
