Unknown "BOR ...oslovakia" vase
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:18:04 PM »
I was hoping to get some information about this vase that I inherited.  Having read through some of the posts, it seems to be from Czechoslovakia (Novy Bor) but I was hoping for some additional details (ex. approx age, mass-produced?, etc)

Many thanks!

Looks like the Exbor mark.  Trying searching here for Exbor, I'm sure you'll find some info.

I wanted to add that the vase has a two color combination of green and red/orange with facet cuts that remind me of a tulip (there is a bit of a lip or ridge on the lower cuts).

The vase is approx 10" and 2.75" to 3" in diameter (varies). It weighs a little over 4lbs 1oz.

Is this a mass-produced vase or is this more of a collectible?

Thanks!

This is a very fine quality Czech vase.

Although he is a GMB member try contacting Jindrich at his website http://www.webareal.cz/ceskoslovenskesklo, he is a good choice for identifying the designer of this piece. I have seen quite a few Exbor pieces with that mark on GMB but not that piece, it seems quite unusual and interesting, good luck!

Definitely collectable , and not mass produced, a lot of time effort and skill went into the making of it.
Very nice,
Im envious, i should think its around the 1960s, by Pavel Hlava or Oldrich Lipsky,
I think Lipsky, but Jindrich will know, this topic is interesting in case it didnt come up on your search,

It is definitely ExBor stamp from sixties, I have one older catalogue of Exbor at my website in Section Katalogy - Catalogues.
I cannot confirm designer for the meanwhile, it could be Lipsky, Hlava, Rozinek, Honzik or anybody else. I will try to contact grandson of Mr. Lipsky, perhaps he will be able to help.

Jindrich
