Yellow and clear chunky ashtray
« on: April 03, 2010, 03:57:13 PM »
Hello could anyone kindly help us id this really heavy chunky ashtray.  It looks quite a sunshine yellow on my pics but is in fact not quite as bright, thickly encased in clear.  It doesnt sit flush to the table due to the sloped underside and concaved base.  Heavy wear to each corner where rested on the desk.  I do not know why but I am thinking czech.  Good quality and certainly not a todays piece.
Many thanks
Margi

Hi Margi,
it´s  a bit unsteady, because it´s missing it´s leather case I think. See this similar item on ebay:
here
I´ve seen it here sometimes, but yet I´ve been unable to identify a maker.
If I should hazard a guess - and please be aware it really isn´t anything more than that -
I´d say Walther / Siebenstern for it´s colour, chunkiness and vague similarity to this
design:

Thanks Dirk for your offering.  I see the similarities but also both are quite different.  I don't know about the leather holder, the ashtray isnt unsteady just not flush as flat from corner to corner, it quite steadily sits on the four faceted sides hence the heavy wear on these parts.

Ah, must have misunderstood you there.  :) So perhaps no leather case...
