Handled glass A Guillot
« on: April 18, 2010, 04:08:36 PM »
Good evening all

I have in my possession this lovely bubbled glass with handle.  It has A Guillot embossed on the base with what I think is supposed to read Fait a la Main circling (made by hand) however for the life of me I cannot find any info other than something to do with a comport but it gives no information in the link.  Can anyone kindly shed some light please?

Alain Guillot I think, Margi... two possibles...

1. a few references to glassmakers who worked with/trained under an Alain Guillot but I can't find anything current about him :(  An Alain Guillot flacon shown here:

2. Alain Guillot winemaker in France - perhaps their own design glasses?

Anyhow, someone else (Ivo probably!) may be able to add more for you or confirm which is right.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thanks Anne, I also found Alain but came to dead end.  I asked the seller of this item how long he had had this in his permission and he replied about 30years although I take the responses with a pinch of salt.  Maybe if Ivo comes on if he has not already seen it he may also be able to comment.  I also have another item which is a candle holder of very similar form but not signed/embossed.  I shall put that on under another thread.

Alain seems to quite well known in the French glass industry. There are papers with his name on about old glass techniques

And this seems as if Frederic might be his son
