Help please with Sunday find number 2
« on: April 22, 2010, 06:44:45 PM »
Hi, this was the second vase bought on Sunday. It stands just over 5" tall. It has a polished pontil mark. The glass has a heavy feel to it, fairly thick glass. The colour is a mottle yellow/clear with the neck almost striped rather than the mottle pattern of the body. The colour I thought was one i'd seen in some Mdina glass, BUT, chances are I'm way off mark there!!!
cheers all, David

Does it have a polished pontil mark or is the base polished flat?

Hang my head in shame, I even know the diffeence!!! of course I SHOULD have said that it has a polished flat base NOT polished pontil.  :-[ In the words of Homer 'Doh'

I wouldn't worry, I managed to reply to one thread yesterday in another. ::)

Well, it doesn't have any feature that would make me say it's not made at Mdina, on the other hand not much to say it is either.

A photo looking straight at it, rather than down at an angle would help to show the shape, white background helps too.
