Nachtmann mark
« on: April 23, 2010, 06:26:00 PM »
Hi,
Just a quickie. I have some nice Art Nouveau shaped champagne bowls that I picked somewhere a couple of years ago, each glass having a written capital N mark on the base. Over the N there are 5 semi vertical lines which probably represents a crown. I've always thought they represented Nachtmann glass but I can't find the mark anywhere, any ideas?
Thanks,
Bryn

What's a semi vertical line Bryn?  ;D

Is one of their logos five candles, taller in the middle?

John

I would say this is Nachtmann - with the crown - just upside down - compare here.

Many Thanks, that looks right. I could only find full name marks on the Internet. Only other thing I really would like to know is whether this is an early mark, the shape of the glasses are very Art Nouveau in appearance.

I don't know when exactly this mark was used - if you visit their webpage today, they seem to have a modified logo.

Ah yes,  a little similar to early Northwood Carnival Glass marks with having the N inside a circle.
