An unusual Ysart paperweight?
« on: April 27, 2010, 08:10:13 PM »
Not sure but I've seen something very similar.....

Its almost like a hybrid of the scrambled harlequin with an unusual ribbed arrangement and a large squat ovoid shape

1970s Harland period (near-)surface scrambled Egg shape.

I've not seen many of these. I think the ones I have seen have had the canes on the outer surface and had 12 clear ribs up the whole weight.

This one appears to be coated in clear after the ribbing and shaping was done. The resulting thin vertical air bubbles seem to only rise clearly up only part of the body. Perhaps the ribbing was not as intended and a clear layer added to improve things.

However, maybe there were both regular clear-coated versions as well as non-coated?

See also "PY4004" at this ysartglass catalogue page.
