What does mod dep mean ?

Picked up a small jug looks maybe like  a vinegar/oil or medical!! it has mod dep and what looks like a joined ve then a seperate A then made in italy and numbers250cc moulded on the base ,i read that mod dep is someting to do with france ? is this right and can it be identified by the base marks ? have searched some sites but no idea --many thanks .

In French it means that it's a registered design.   Googling might help you.  :)

Hi try googling modele depose (French?) also appears on Italian items.

Hi and welcome to the board.

It means registered design, in other words the design has been registered with a central authority in whichever country to protect it from being ripped out by others. It is usually seen on French or Italian glass items. In the UK the equivalent mark would be Rd.No. or Regd. No., both being followed by a number.
