Murano? Blue/white striped bowl id please.
« on: May 06, 2010, 10:44:10 PM »
Is this a murano bowl?  I am sure I saw one somewhere on my internet travels, but I can't find it again now.  Any id for maker and age please?

My guess is that it is....but someone with better knowledge will be able to confirm it, as mine is a Guess - but looks like it to me.

The unpolished base and shine of the outside glass are not typical of Murano glass. It's a nice bowl, but I don't think it is Italian.

It reminds me of some of the pieces on the Jozephina (Poland) website.

I think the base may be a bit deceptive in the photos, as it has a *lot* of base wear, but it was polished under the wear.  It has a real feeling of age.  Again the black glass looks a lot shinier in the photo than it is in real life, through being photographed in full sunlight.

I forgot to include measurements, it is 9 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall.  The glass is very thick and it weighs 1.6kg (3lbs 8 oz)
