Yellow cut ashtray id help please
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:20:44 PM »
A little gift from me to hubby as he collects glass ashtrays but he is away and I would like to tell him about it when he returns but havent the foggiest.  It is sunshine yellow/citron in colour and after a good clean up (had chewing gum all over it) here is the end product.  It has slight curved edges and seems quite geometric to me.  Only wear showing is on the corners of the base.  Sort of hexagonal in shape.
Many thanks

Hi there:

Not sure here (this is a GUESS) but might it be the same ( ??? )  I found where stuff by this company can also be 'unsigned'.   Just a wild  guess here (I said I was going to stop guessing here -- LOL) :

You did not have the measurements for your ashtray....what are your measurements for yours?

My guess would be Czech and perhaps ZBS or a Jablonec factory

Thank you Antique Rose (sorry your first name escapes me) upon looking at your link I was twisting my head this way and that but pic three I did see the resemblance  but having handled and hubby owns some VSL ashtrays I am not convinced.  His vsl are a lot thinner than this one not overly thin but thinner all the same.  I like to guess as much as the next person so much appreciated.

Christine, thanks I could see czech its got that certain chunkiness.  Only had a quick scan at ZBS and seen only vases at the mo but will look later when the princesses are from under my feet.  Will also search the latter.

Thanks peeps.

PS Rose - like the way you describe your items and thoughts  ;D

Hi Margi,
are you absolutely sure it´s cut not pressed? Walther in Siebenstern made an at least
very similar ashtray. I´ve (so far) seen it in this citrine, clear and in an neodymium-like
colour.
Cheers,
Dirk

I saw one on a fleamarket recently and it fooled me, too. They are well finished / fire-polished and sometimes
the mould-lines can´t be seen at all.
