wonky tortoiseshell bowl
« on: May 17, 2010, 07:03:45 PM »

HI    Just found this rather odd bowl, its very heavy, 8 inches across the top.The whole thing is wonky and the base is very off centre. Its also higher one side than the other!!! Its a lovely tortoiseshell colour, the whole thing looks very hand made and tool marks are visible in the middle of the base underneath. The base is ground to make it level and a bit dipped in the centre. Why I like it is not really for its looks (Which to be honest looks like a pudding basin ;D ) but for the lovely patterns it throws off when in bright sunlight, bit like snakeskin to look at. Do you think its meant to be all wonky and odd shaped or is it a mistake? And if so who would make such a thing?    Hope somebody can help with some info,   Thanks as always Cheryl
