Unidentified Lrg Floral Paperweight
« on: May 18, 2010, 12:20:33 AM »
Good afternoon!  I was pointed to this website by a 'friend' that mentioned someone may be able to help me idenify this beautiful floral paperweight.  The paperweight measured 3.5" in diameter and is 3" tall.  There are beautiful shades of soft pink, white and deep hot pink/magenta.  The weight of the piece is 931g or 2 lbs and 2 3/8 oz.  The petal arrangement is as follows:
inner ring - 3 petals
middle ring - 4 petals
outer ring - 6 petals

There is a total of 13 petals all open and resembling a beautiful peony.  Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated!  Have a great day!
David in Fort Walton Beach, FL, USA

Here is the picture of the nicely cut and polished pontil/foot.  Thanks again!

Welcome, David from FWB!  While I cannot say for sure, your rose weight may be Murano.  Murano bases are flat and polished. There is a rose weight in my collection that appears to have the same petal count and coloring, although it is difficult to say for sure as the weight is facetted.  People here are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.  There are some who have a keen eye for roses.  I look forward to hearing what others have to say.

Lily :)
