:spls: I have attached photobucket links of this strange iridescent glass vase with its non-detachable bronze top mount, which I have had for many years...
The body of the vase has been produced using Manganese in the batch, for it is an extremely dark purple going on black. The overall has then been iridised to give purples/greens & gold. There are no makers marks at all, not even upion the mount ior its handles which are undoubtedly bronze. It is therefore also difficult for me to judge the weight of the glass itself, however the vase stands at 6" (16cms) and its widest diam is 5.5" (14cms). I am assuming that Stanneous Chloride has been used for the iridescence, due to the rough and pitted surface of the glass and its rainbow-hues of colouration. The top of the vase itself (which can be felt and seen) has been left unpolished (presumingly to act as a bonding for the attatched bronze mount and handles?).
I have never seen one like this before and so any remarks from any party woukld be appreciated and very helpful. :thup: Thankx. Jazz
